CBD SEO Services

CBD brands get little help from paid ads, and the federal rules for hemp products change on December 11, 2026. Search is still the channel you can build on. I help CBD and hemp stores rank with product pages that describe what they sell honestly, lab reports Google can find, and a catalog plan that keeps your rankings through the new rules.

I don't write health, dosage or treatment claims, for any client. Legal questions go to your lawyer.

Signs your CBD store is losing ground in search

  • Your oils, gummies or topicals sit behind the same large brands on every search.
  • Most organic traffic lands on your blog, not on products.
  • Product pages for different strengths and sizes compete with each other.
  • Your content talks about sleep, stress or pain, and you're not sure what to keep.
  • Lab reports are PDFs nobody can find, including Google.
  • You sell full-spectrum products and don't know which ones pass the new THC limit.
  • An agency sold you links, and your rankings dropped.

Getting your catalog through the December 2026 hemp rules

A federal law signed in November 2025 changes what counts as hemp. From December 11, 2026, finished hemp products can contain no more than 0.4 milligrams of total THC per container, and synthetic cannabinoids no longer count as hemp. Many full-spectrum CBD products have trace THC, so some may not pass. Bills to delay or change the law are in Congress, so the date and details can still move. Check the current status with your lawyer.

For your site, the risk is losing pages that took years to rank. I plan the change before it happens:

  1. Check every product

against its lab report: THC per container, not just percentage.

  2. Sort the catalog

into products that pass, products being reformulated, and products being removed.

  3. Keep URLs

for reformulated products, with updated lab reports and descriptions.

  4. Redirect removed products

to the closest compliant product or category, so links and rankings carry over instead of turning into errors.

  5. Update category pages and guides

so nothing still points to products you no longer sell.

  6. Watch Search Console

for the weeks after, and fix anything that slips.

Organic search first, ads where the rules allow

CBD has a few narrow paid options, each with certification and strict limits. SEO carries most of the growth.

  • Google Ads

    What CBD ads may run
Topical hemp CBD only, in a few US locations, with LegitScript certification
    What I do
Check eligibility, then plan Google Ads from the same search data as your SEO
  • Meta (Facebook, Instagram)

    What CBD ads may run
Certified CBD with Meta's written approval, aimed at adults
    What I do
Check eligibility, then run Facebook Ads around your SEO pages
  • TikTok

    What CBD ads may run
Topical CBD cosmetics in some markets, only through TikTok's sales team
    What I do
Usually organic video and SEO instead

Rules change, so every product and platform is checked again before launch.

A topical map built for a CBD store

A CBD site ranks when it covers its products and buyer questions completely, inside safe borders. I build your map from real searches and your catalog, and match every search to one page.

  • Product type pages

    What it covers
Oils, gummies, capsules, topicals, pet products
    What it never covers
    Health conditions or results
  • Spectrum pages

    What it covers
Full spectrum, broad spectrum and isolate: what each contains and its THC per container
    What it never covers
Claims that one works "better" for anything
  • Lab report pages

    What it covers
One page per batch: what was tested, the lab, the results
    What it never covers
Claims that testing makes a product "safe"
  • Sourcing pages

    What it covers
Where the hemp is grown, how it's extracted, how it's handled
    What it never covers
    Unverifiable "organic" or "pure" claims
  • Shipping and state pages

    What it covers
Where you ship, age limits, the date each rule was checked
    What it never covers
    Legal advice
  • Buyer guides

    What it covers
How to read a lab report, how to compare spectrums, how to store CBD
    What it never covers
Dosage, medical topics or drug comparisons
  • Brand and trust pages

    What it covers
    About, team, policies, contact, certifications
    What it never covers
    Claims you can't back up

This is semantic SEO applied to a regulated product. The method is on my Semantic SEO page.

Content that describes the product, never promises results

The FDA says CBD products can't be sold as dietary supplements or added to food, and it sends warning letters to companies that make treatment claims. So your pages describe what the product is, not what it does.

Instead ofAvoidWrite
"Helps with anxiety, sleep or pain"Spectrum, CBD content, ingredients, carrier oil, flavor, lab results
"CBD dietary supplement""CBD oil" or "CBD gummies", described by what's in them
"Take one dropper before bed"Nothing about use. Label facts only, as approved by your lawyer
"Treats", "cures" or "prevents" anythingNever. Remove it from every page, post and review you display
"THC-free" without proof"[x] mg total THC per container, per lab report for batch [number]"
"FDA approved"Never. Only one prescription CBD drug is FDA-approved
"Calms your dog"Product facts for pet products too: ingredients, size, lab results

I check product descriptions, blog posts, image alt text, FAQs and the reviews you show, because a claim in any of them counts.

Trust signals Google looks for on CBD pages

Google holds health-related pages to its highest quality standard. For a CBD store, trust is shown, not claimed:

  • Lab reports for every batch, linked from each product as crawlable pages, not just PDFs.

  • A real About page: who runs the business, where the hemp comes from, how products are made.

  • Clear contact, refund and shipping policies.

  • Certifications you actually hold, such as LegitScript.

  • Genuine customer reviews, shown without health claims.

  • Bylines on guides, with the writer's real background.

Technical SEO for CBD stores

CBD stores have their own technical problems: strength, size and flavor variants that multiply URLs, age checks that hide content from crawlers, checkout scripts that slow pages, and lab reports Google can't reach. I fix them in order of impact. More: Technical SEO and Ecommerce SEO.

Local SEO for CBD shops

Shops that sell in person can win local searches. I set up your Google Business Profile, keep your name, address and phone the same everywhere, build pages only for areas you serve, and set up honest review requests. More: Local SEO.

What AI tools say about your brand

Buyers ask ChatGPT and Google's AI Mode which CBD brands publish lab results. AI answers on health topics are cautious and lean on clear facts: lab reports, sourcing, policies and consistent business details. I make those facts easy to find and the same everywhere. More: AI Search Optimization.

What SEO can't fix for a CBD brand

  • The law. If a product doesn't meet the new hemp rules, ranking it won't help. Planning the change will.
  • Payment processing. SEO can't get you approved, but claim-safe pages help you avoid giving a processor a reason to drop you.
  • Big head terms. Searches like "CBD oil" are dominated by large brands. We build strength through product types, spectrums and buyer questions first.
  • Health claims. I won't write them, and I'll recommend removing the ones you have.

Not a good fit if you

  • want health or treatment claims on your pages
  • sell mainly intoxicating hemp THC products
  • want fast rankings from bought links

CBD SEO questions

Will the 2026 hemp law hurt my rankings?

Only if products disappear without a plan. Pages that are removed with no redirect lose their rankings and links. Products that are reformulated, or removed with a redirect to the closest match, keep most of what they built.

Can I advertise CBD on Google?

Only topical hemp CBD, in a few US locations, with LegitScript certification. Most CBD products can't be advertised on Google, which is why organic search matters.

Is CBD a dietary supplement?

Not under FDA rules. The FDA says CBD products are excluded from the dietary supplement definition, so pages shouldn't call them supplements.

How long does CBD SEO take?

Claim and technical fixes take a few weeks. New pages usually start ranking within three to six months, depending on your site and competition.

Will you write about CBD benefits?

No. I write about products, spectrums, ingredients, testing, sourcing and buying, which is what buyers search for and what keeps you safe.

Do you work with delta-8 or other THC products?

The new law takes most intoxicating hemp products out of the hemp definition. I focus on CBD and hemp products that fit the rules.

Can you guarantee I won't get an FDA warning letter?

No one can. I remove the kinds of claims the FDA acts on and recommend you confirm product wording with your lawyer.

Are you a CBD SEO agency?

I'm a consultant, not an agency. You work directly with the person auditing your site and writing your pages.
